$600k Grant Helps USD Hire Women STEM Profs

USD STEM profsThe University of San Diego announced that it received a federal grant of $600,000 to help expand the number of women on its faculty in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields.

For the fall semester, the University has hired eight female professors to serve as inspiration for other institutions planning to increase diversity and encourage more women in STEM. The grant money was used to help with recruiting and will support the women in their new jobs.

In a statement, President Mary Lyons said, “This is a very exciting development for the university.┬áThis outstanding group of professors will inspire more young women to enter these fields and also collaborate on cutting-edge research across their respective disciplines.”
