kind_to_youNorthwestern University at Evanston, Illinois announced that a chapter of I Am That Girl, a not-for-profit organization for female empowerment, will be launched at the University in early November.

The University will host the first I Am That Girl meeting on November 6th. This new chapter joins more than 100 chapters worldwide.

The founders of the organization said the I Am That Girl is a movement to turn female “self-doubt” into “self-love.” I Am That Girl has chapters across the United States and other countries such as Canada, France, Lebanon and the United Kingdom.

According to local chapter leader Fallon Schlossman, a Medill sophomore, “The whole point behind That Girl is building self-appreciation through building community.” She added that, “It’s basically a matter of trying to create a space for all of the various corners of Northwestern’s female population to gather together and talk about both big issues that are happening in the world … and things that are happening on campus and in our personal lives.”
