Kristene Kelly, a native of St. Croix, Virginia Island, was recently elected as President of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association-Senior Woman Administrators Association. Prior to her new role, Kelly has served at the Saint Augustine’s (N.C.) University representative to the 12-member group. She is now in charged with several new duties and will serve the CIAA-SWAA for two years as President.
“I was slightly surprised because there are so many powerful women within our organization” Kelly commented. “Some with many more years of experience than me, so when they nominated and unanimously voted me as president, I was shocked.”
The NCAA requires all member institutions to designate an SWA, which is the highest-ranking female in the athletic department. In the CIAA, SWA Association decided to elect a president.
