VA – Maj. Tracy S. Russillo, a veteran female officer with the Virginia State Police has been promoted to the department’s executive inner circle, making her the highest-ranking woman and the first to command a bureau in the agency’s 83-year history.
Maj. Russillo will assume the rank of lieutenant colonel and head the department’s Bureau of Administrative and Support Services at state police headquarters in Chesterfield County.
“I always just wanted to be good at what I did,” Russillo said. “And I didn’t want a caveat associated with that where, ‘She’s a really good woman trooper,’ or really good woman whatever. So I’ve kind of stayed away from that. I’ve always worked hard and I’ve always wanted to do my job well.”
