The tenth conference of the Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship (V-WISE) program will be held on June 13-15 in New York City. It will be the program’s largest to date where a seasoned group of business leaders, educators, military leaders, and resource providers will meet in Times Square to help more than 200 women veterans, transitioning female service members, and military wives meet their business dreams. The conference will have inspiring talks and breakout sessions with topics from raising capital to business law, to teach women how to lead in today’s economy.
Syracuse University’s Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) organized the conference with the support of IVMF Founding Partner JPMorgan Chase & Co and the U.S. Small Business Administration. JP Morgan Chase’s support has helped veterans and military spouses to expand their education, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The V-Wise program provides entrepreneurship training to women veterans from any branch or era of military service, any military component, female spouses or partners of active duty personnel and veterans looking to start a business venture. It empowers women to realize their passion and learn business skills to make their ideas into a profitable business, and allow existing businesses turn into growth ventures. Accomplished entrepreneurs and educators teach the nation’s female veterans to build on their leadership skills, integrity, focus, and drive.
V-WISE has influenced more than 1,000 female veterans and military spouses in over 40 states in the country, with more than 56 percent of its graduates starting or growing a business after attending the conference. The organizers are expecting that this year will be the largest attendance of business-minded military wives to date. For more information, go to www.marketwatch.com.
